Amid a global pandemic,The Devil in Miss Jonas (Der Teufel in Miss Jonas) and on the eve of Trans Day of Visibility, Idaho Gov. Brad Little still found a way to limit transgender rights, signing two bills into law on Monday night. HB 500 and HB 509 will both restrict the rights of trans individuals in the state.
The former prohibits trans girls from participating on women's sports teams, while the latter bans trans individuals from obtaining a new birth certificate portraying their accurate gender identity.
With the timing of the laws, one thing becomes clear: Attacks on trans rights aren't stopping for anything.
That makes Trans Day of Visibility, honored annually on Mar. 31 to celebrate trans people around the world while raising awareness about discrimination, all the more important this year.
Even while social distancing, you can still support and uplift trans, gender non-conforming, and non-binary voices.
On Twitter, LGBTQ organizations shared messages of affirmation and support, as well as ways to support the community during this uncertain time. Here's what you can learn (and then put into practice) from them.
