It doesn't have Watch Believer Onlinea title. We don't know when it's premiering, other than "spring 2020." But prepare to witness a new chapter in the Walking Dead universe.
A new series trailer unveiled at New York Comic Con gives us our first look at a story that picks up a full decade after the world as we know it ended. The story focuses on a new, younger generation of survivors. People who grew up in a world where undeath was an assumption rather than pure fiction.
This first trailer introduces a big group of characters and some of the world they now inhabit.
The series features Aliyah Roberts as Iris, Annet Mahendru as Huck, Alexa Mansour as Hope, Nicolas Cantu as Elton, Hal Cumpston as Silas, and Nico Tortarella as Felix, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Co-creator Scott Gimple set up the premise for his series during The Walking Dead's NYCC panel.
"They've grown up in the apocalypse," Gimple said of the show's main characters. "They're aware of walkers. They haven't interacted with them. They've been [living] beyond walls. That makes any journey they need to make incredibly dangerous."
Gimple went on to talk about the "quest" aspect of the show, and the fact that some occurrence forces these characters to leave their safe homes and set out into the world. The trailer seems to offer hints about whatever event it is that shatters their sense of safety. If you've ever seen other communities crumble on The Walking Dead, you can probably guess what it is.
The panel also brought the revelation that the new series refers to the walking dead not as Walkers, but as "Empties." And of course, the whole thing connects to the larger universe that The Walking Deadstar Andrew Lincoln officially joined after his character Rick Grimes left the original show.
