The latest from A24, a decade-spanning romance featuring internet favorites Florence Pughand Andrew Garfield, will soon be making its streaming debut. Though it initially went viral for its horrific, bug-eyed carousel horse in promotional images, the film is very much a tearjerking drama that focuses on a couple supporting each other through career milestones and health struggles alike.
Whether you missed it in the theaters or prefer to cry from your couch, here's everything you need to know about how to watch We Live in Timeat home.
We Live in Timefollows the relationship between Almut (Pugh) and Tobias (Garfield), from meeting and falling in love to starting a family together. The drama is told in snapshots throughout the course of their lives as they learn to live in the moment and enjoy the time they have together — which may not be as long as either of them hoped. Expect some tears.
Here's a look at the weepy romance in the official trailer:
We Live in Timewas one of our most anticipated films of fall 2024, but our reviewer, Mashable Film Editor Kristy Puchko, was not impressed. She concluded that despite its star power, "this movie is far less than the sum of its parts."
But here's the thing: all film is subjective. While it may not have been our reviewer's cup of tea, the A24 romance managed to score a 78 percent critic rating and 83 percent audience rating on Rotten Tomatoes. Those are pretty impressive numbers. The critics' consensus reads, "Andrew Garfield and Florence Pugh's palpable chemistry will snatch audiences' hearts before breaking them in We Live in Time, a powerful melodrama that uses its nonlinear structure to thoughtfully explore grief."

We Live in Timewill make its streaming debut on Feb. 7 on Max. Since A24 has a licensing deal with Max, the studio's recent theatrical releases have all found their way to the streamer. So, it comes as no surprise that We Live in Timewill join other recent flicks like Love Lies Bleedingand MaXXXine.
Max subscriptions start at $9.99 per month, but there are a few ways you can save some money on your plan. Check out the best HBO Max streaming deals below.
If you don't mind a few ads here and there, Max will only cost you $9.99 per month. You could simply sign up for a single month, watch We Live in Timeand whatever else you want to within that time frame, then cancel before you're charged for another month. Or you could save some money by sticking around for the long haul. A yearly subscription with ads will run you $99.99 per year, which breaks down to just $8.33 per month instead — that's a 16% discount compared to the monthly plan. Of course, the downside is you have to pay upfront for the year.
Similarly, you can opt for an annual ad-free plan to save about 16% if you can't stand ads interrupting your viewing experience. You have two ad-free options to choose from: Max Ad-Free and Max Ultimate Ad-Free. The basic ad-free tier costs $16.99 per month, while the Max Ultimate tier costs $20.99 per month. However, with the annual plan, it'll only cost you $169.99 per year (about $14.17 per month) for Max Ad-Free or $209.99 per year (about $17.50 per month) for Max Ultimate.
Note: Both tiers offer an ad-free viewing experience, but the Ultimate tier takes things a step further with 4K Ultra HD video quality and Dolby Atmos immersive audio.
Cricket customers on the $60 per month unlimited plan get Max with ads for free. That's a $99.99 value for zero dollars. If you're on the $60 per month plan, head over to the Max app (or navigate to Max.com), choose Cricket as your provider, then enter your credentials to log in. Check out the terms and conditions on Cricket's website to learn more.
College students get the best deals on streaming services and Max is no different. As long as you can verify your student status through UNiDAYS, you can sign up for Max with ads for just $4.99 per month instead of $9.99 per month. That's 50% in savings.
While it's not the cheapest option, you can get more bang for your buck by signing up for the Disney bundle that includes Disney+, Hulu, and Max. Enjoy all three libraries with ads for only $16.99 (reg. $25.97) per month or ad-free for $29.99 (reg. $48.97) per month, which is up to 38% in savings.
