Apple is Obsession Archivesplanning a big overhaul of its iPad lineup next year.
This is according to a new report by analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, who claims that the company plans to launch new iPad Pro models with M3 processors and OLED displays.
All of the current iPads have LCD displays, though the larger, 12.9-inch iPad Pro has an enhanced, mini-LED display. But OLED is a logical choice for the iPad, as it would likely offer deeper blacks, better viewing angles, and less battery consumption.
The new iPad Pro models are likely to come in the first half of 2024, with mass production starting either late in the first quarter, or in the second quarter.
Kuo also says that two new iPad Air models are coming, one with a 10.9-inch display, and the other with a 12.9-inch display. The latter would be a completely new model, which would match the larger iPad Pro in size. The report claims it would have a slightly improved display, but not the mini-LED display seen in today's iPad Pro. The new iPad Air devices are scheduled for mass production in the first quarter of 2024, says Kuo.
Finally, Kuo says that the mass production of the upcoming iPad mini (see all of our predictions here), has been delayed to the second half of 2024. There should also be a new iPad in the second half of 2024, though Kuo doesn't offer any new insights on these models.
Kuo's predictions largely match those of Bloomberg's Mark Gurman, though this is the first time we've heard of the larger iPad Air.
