Only one fully electric vehicle made it into this year's Consumer Reports top 10 list — and it wasn't a Tesla.
For 2022's Top 10 Picks for cars,Watch Different Rooms Between Two Women Episode Full HD Online SUVs, and trucks the Ford Mustang Mach-E, an all-electric SUV, made the cut.
Last year the Tesla Model 3 was the chosen EV but it's been replaced by Ford's first electric SUV. The Mach-E has been available for a little over a year, at a $44,000 starting price. It has up to 270 miles of range compared to the Model 3's 267-mile starting range.
CRsaid it focused this year's picks on vehicles with higher environmental and safety ratings. The review publication added a new "Green Choice" designation to its car overviews last year year. If there's a green leaf icon next to a listing it indicates a car with lower (or no) tailpipe emissions. The Mach-E earned the "Green Choice" label as an EV with no internal combustion engine.
Other EVs on the Top 10 include the Toyota Prius (a hybrid) and the Prius Prime and Toyota RAV4 Prime, both plug-in hybrids. The Prius has made CR's top list for the past 19 years, and it's the only car with such a long streak. Other cars on this year's list were also selected in 2021, like the Lexus RX, Honda Ridgeline truck, and Kia Telluride SUV.
