Meet banana milk coffee, a combination of bananas, milk, cold brew coffee and simple syrup. It's creamy, sweet and now available at Brooklyn's J+B Design & Cafe.

Store manager Fumio Tashiro tellsEaterthe idea for the drink came from reading an article about Brazilian banana drinks. Though the banana milk coffee has been on the menu for a year, it's only recently started to take off. He currently sells about 50 of them per week, at $5 each.

Without the coffee kick, banana-flavored milk is popular in Japan and blending bananas with water to create "milk" is common in Korea.

This drink is vegetarian, coffee based and has potassium and other nutrients from the banana. Is it destined to become this year's matcha or just a flash in the pan, à la Orbitz?

Only time and your coffee-obsessed roommate will tell.
