A teeny,Obscene Wife tiny hint about Game of Thrones Season 8 may point to one of the series most highlyanticipated battles ever: Cleganebowl.
According to CinemaBlend, actor Hafþór Björnsson, who plays the hulking Mountain, revealed that his favorite scene is in the upcoming season, which points more than ever to the Clegane brothers' highly-anticipated duel.
SEE ALSO: This wildly possible 'Game of Thrones' fan theory predicts the fight to end all fightsIn an Instagram Q&A, someone asked Björnsson about his favorite scene from shooting Game of Thrones, to which he replied: "It happens in season 8... so I can't speak about it."
That's still pretty vague since we see far less of Björnsson on the show than of Rory McCann, who plays the Hound. If McCann had said his favorite scene was in Season 8, there would be no question it was Cleganebowl; this is an actor who got to fight Arya (Maisie Williams), Brienne (Gwendolyn Christie), and many more, not to mention the entire army of the dead in Season 7.
Björnsson's best scene to date is probably the infamous finale of "The Mountain and the Viper," in which Gregor Clegane brutally murders Oberyn Martell in a trial by combat.
The hype for Cleganebowl has been building for decades, predating Game of Thrones'television debut as A Song of Ice and Firereaders got acquainted with the brothers and the rest of Westeros.
The Mountain was resurrected, in a manner of speaking, by Qyburn after the High Sparrow's trial of Cersei, and he remains stoically and undead-ly by her side. The brothers actually saw each other after years in the Season 7 finale, when Jon and Daenerys appeal to Cersei to form an alliance against the White Walkers.
With only six episodes in its final season Throneshas a lot of ground to cover (and will undoubtedly do so with feature film-length episodes), but we've been waiting on this battle for far too long.
Game of Thronesreturns in 2019.
