A letter Kim Kardashian wrote was published over the weekend as a full-page ad in the New York Times.

Originally posted in April on Comedy ArchivesKardashian's website and app, it called out the Wall Street Journal for running an ad denying the Armenian Genocide. Recently, the Armenian Educational Foundation, a California nonprofit, placed a full-page ad in the Sunday issue of the New York Timesto spread her message.

The letter calls theWSJ ad "morally irresponsible." As an American of Armenian descent, Kardashian questioned why the news outlet would publish something denying the Armenian Genocide, in which 1.5 million people were killed.

"For the Wall Street Journal to publish something like this is reckless, upsetting and dangerous," the ad reads. "It's one thing when a crappy tabloid profits from a made-up scandal, but for a trusted publication like WSJto profit from genocide — it's shameful and unacceptable. Why is it that every time we take one step forward, we take two steps back?"

The WSJad, published on April 20, was paid for by a group called FactCheck Armenia.

At the time, Gawkerreporter Sam Biddle asked WSJwhy exactly it chose to publish the controversial ad.

"We accept a wide range of advertisements, including those with provocative viewpoints," a spokesperson for the publication told Gawker. "While we review ad copy for issues of taste, the varied and divergent views expressed belong to the advertisers."

But the defense was not enough for Kardashian, who responded by asking whether the Wall Street Journalwould publish ads denying other historical tragedies like 9/11 or the Holocaust.

"Advocating the denial of a genocide by the country responsible for it — that's not publishing a 'provocative viewpoint,' that's spreading lies," Kardashian wrote in the ad. "It's totally morally irresponsible and, most of all, it's dangerous. If this had been an ad denying the Holocaust, or pushing some 9/11 conspiracy theory, would it have made it to print?"

In April of last year, Kardashian made a trip to Armenia to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the genocide. She met with Prime Minister Hovik Abrahamyan and paid a visit to a memorial in Yerevan, Armenia.

That same month, Pope Francis called on the international community to recognize war crimes committed against over 1 million Armenians from 1915 to 1917 by the Ottoman Empire, or modern-day Turkey.

Aside from being denied by Turkey, the genocide continues to not be officially recognized by many countries, including the United States.
