Deadpool is Flashpoint X Porn (1997)back!
With the first official Deadpool 2trailer, Marvel has reunited us with our favorite irreverent, wisecracking mercenary.
SEE ALSO: The 'Deadpool 2' trailer is bloody, explicit, and meta as f*ckThe second movie tasks Deadpool with protecting a young boy (Julian Dennison) from Cable (Josh Brolin), a mutant from the future. Deadpool can't do it alone though, so he enlists the help of some fellow mutants.
"We're going to need a super, duper fucking group," Deadpool says. "We need 'em tough, morally flexible, and young enough to carry their own franchise for 10 to 12 years."
That group? The X-Force.
But who and what is the X-Force?
The X-Force is a superteam of mutants who fight together to protect mutantkind. They're pretty much like the X-Men, but with a greater disregard for the rules.
In the comics, the X-Force is formed from the New Mutants, a previous team of heroes, after Cable comes from the future to stop the apocalypse. That original X-Force team consisted of Cannonball, Boom-Boom, Warpath, Shatterstar, Feral, and Domino. Deadpool eventually joined a later iteration of X-Force (after first being an X-Force enemy) to fight an ancient evil called Skornn.
However, based on the trailer, it looks like the movie's X-Force is a little different. Rather than being formed byCable, now the X-Force is formed to stopCable, who is coming to kill a boy. Furthermore, the New Mutants, the team from which X-Force is derived in the comics, is getting its own standalone movie.
In the comic books, the lineup of mutants that form the X-Force changes frequently. Even if you follow the comics, you still may be confused about Deadpool's new superhero team.
Here's everything you need to know about Deadpool 2's X-Force.
Powers: Like Wolverine, Deadpool has a superhealing abilities. Deadpool is also a trained mercenary, proficient in hand-to-hand fighting, as well as combat with guns and swords.
Played by: Ryan Reynolds
You know Deadpool. It's the second movie, after all, and the film is literally named after him. But for anybody who wants a refresher, the first Deadpoolmovie traces his origin story, starting when Deadpool was Wade Wilson, a former mercenary diagnosed with terminal cancer. Looking for a cure, Deadpool ends up with the mysterious Ajax, who tortures Wade in order to unleash his latent mutant abilities. The process cures his illness, but leaves him scarred and disfigured. The rest of the movie is Deadpool looking for Ajax to seek revenge, be cured of his disfigurement, and to rescue Vanessa, Deadpool's love interest whom Ajax kidnaps.
Powers: Negasonic Teenage Warhead is able to generate explosive blasts from her body, essentially turning herself into a human bomb.
Played By: Brianna Hildebrand
The Negasonic Teenage Warhead we see in the Deadpoolmovie is significantly different than the one we meet in the comics. In the movie, Negasonic works with Colossus, using her explosive powers to help Deadpool rescue Vanessa. In the comic books, however, Negasonic Teenage Warhead is one of Emma Frost's students and she has telepathic powers.
Speaking to CinemaBlend, screen writer Rhett Reese explained why he changed the character so much: "We changed her to having this kind of explosive… because just the sound of the name - 'Warhead' - implies to us that she could kind of become a human bomb, and we ran with that."
In the trailer, Negasonic can bee seen wearing X-Men gear, but we do see a peek of her using her powers, so who knows if she helps Deadpool or faces off against him in the new movie.
Powers: Domino has the power to change probability. It seems like a strange power at first but it's proven useful to Domino in combat, giving her unparalleled marksman abilities (she never misses a shot) and helps her get out of most situations unharmed.
Played By: Zazie Beetz
Like several other superpowered characters in the X-Men universe, Domino is the result of a government breeding program. After escaping the program, Domino became a mercenary, working with a group called Six Pack (which was actually led by Cable), until she eventually joins the X-Force.
Powers: Bedlam has bioelectric abilities that allow him to disrupt and affect electrical systems. He's also trained in hand-to-hand combat.
Played By: Terry Crews (!!!)
Jesse Bedlam is one half of the X-Mencomic's Bedlam brothers. After being orphaned, Jesse is separated from his brother Christopher, placed in a psychiatric hospital, and tortured. He is eventually rescued by Professor Xavier, and placed on a mutant task force called M.U.S.E. Later, Bedlam teams up with Domino to track down his brother, then joins Christopher's mutant team New Hellions, and finally switches to join the X-Force to stop Christopher from reviving Armageddon Man, a mutant who has the ability to (as his name suggests) cause Armageddon.
Powers: Shatterstar has superhuman strength, speed, agility, durability, healing, and more. He can also generate bioelectric shocks, which channels into objects, most often a sword he carries. This ability makes Shatterstar an especially powerful fighter.
Played By: Lewis Tan (semi-confirmed on Instagram by the actor)
Shatterstar is a mutant created by bio-engineering (seeing a theme here) in another dimension called Mojoworld, where he is an enslaved fighter. After escaping, Shatterstar tasks himself with defeating Mojo V, the ruler of Mojoworld. In his quest, he meets Cable and joins the X-Force after he is assured that the team will help him defeat Mojo.
Powers: Zeitgeist has the power to spit acidic vomit from his mouth, which can burn through any substance in the world.
Played By: (Unknown but some fans are speculating that it's played by Bill Skarsgard, a.k.a. Pennywise from It.)
In the comics, Zeitgeist is a leader in the X-Force team. After becoming dissatisfied with the team, he plans a mission that will kill most of the members of the X-Force but it goes awry and Zeitgeist is eventually killed himself.
All of that said, Deadpool -- both the comics and the movies they inspired -- is a franchise that loves to mix up origin stories. Only time will tell how closely the movie's X-Force follows along with storylines in the comics.
